Soggy Scenes of Winter

Dec 22, 2010

The view from the front door

A few thoughts as we wait for Noah’s Ark to float by:

One of these years we’re going to get a Rose Parade day like this.

As soon as there’s a momentary lull, we’re making a mad dash for some Christmas shopping. We’re worried about our retailer friends—business must be slow because of the downpour. Sport Chalet, Ten Thousand Villages, Folk Tree, Maude Woods, Penny Lane and Macy’s, here we come! Put on your wellies and join us.

So far, our hillsides are holding up, but we have some nervous friends in the foothills of La Canada, Sierra Madre, Pasadena and Altadena. If you’re worried and need sandbags, Pasadena residents can get them at Fire Station #37, 3430 E. Foothill Blvd., or Fire Station #38, 1150 Linda Vista Ave.

The Pasadena Star-News is staying on top of the storm. Some small slides and problems. Here’s a link to the coverage.

Many dogs are sad to miss their regular Arroyo Seco walks today.

Tomorrow’s going to be an incredible day.

I was just witness to the Macy’s Paseo completely flooding. With the hail and downpour this afternoon, it all just poured in their west facing doors – all the way to the elevators, several inches deep! And on their big One-Day Sale day too!
