Imagine a dated 70s apartment, transformed into a contemporary haven filled with vibrant colors and textural contrasts. This is the story of how a once-outdated apartment on the 9th floor of a tower, nestled next to the Place des Fêtes in Paris, became a stunning modern abode.
This transformation was not an overnight sensation. The original apartment held two bedrooms – functional, yes, but they were badly in need of a modern touch and an infusion of light. The renovation process started with necessary updates, such as improvements to the electrical and plumbing systems.
The original layout was tweaked to allow more natural light and an open floor plan. The previously gloomy hallway was removed, thus merging the kitchen and living room. This change has given the home a more open, brighter and inviting living space.
A major change involved the master bedroom, now situated opposite the baby's room. This not only made the bathroom more spacious but also created a sense of tranquility and privacy. Extra storage was seamlessly added to the bedroom during the process.
Stunning Interior Design
With the renovations finished, the spotlight turned to interior design. The designers favoured contrasting colors and materials to create a visually captivating space. As a result, the apartment now showcases black painted wooden features and living room walls, framing the urban view to perfection.
Living Room
The living room now boasts of iconic pieces such as Paolo Piva's “Alanda” coffee table and Sasha Fefelova's “Knotty” pouf. Complementing these pieces is a velvet sofa from Bolia, cushions by India Mahdavi x Monoprix, and a Caravane cotton and rush carpet. The black walls were painted using “Horus” matt black paint.
Kitchen
The kitchen features Ikea cabinets, worktop, and facade, while the island is adorned with Carrément Victoire terrazzo tiles. Søren Ravn Christensen's vintage pendant light hangs over Marazzi enamelled stoneware tiles, and the walls are painted with “Romantique Regal Select”.
Bedroom
The bedroom sports “Tokyo” wall lights by Maison Sarah Lavoine, Merci bed linen, a “Palazzo” curtain, and “New Wave” and “Lone Pine” paint. A photo of “Marilyn Crucifix” by Bert Stern hangs on the wall, adding an artistic touch.
Bathroom
The bathroom now features an Ikea sink cabinet, Marazzi stoneware tiles, with a bathtub and taps from Masalledebain.com. All these changes have led to an apartment that is not just contemporary but also a unique expression of style and taste.
