On March 18, French singer-songwriter Alain Souchon will be lending his support to a great cause, the Alzheimer Research Foundation Gala at Olympia. Pierre Souchon, his son, is among the key organizers with a host of celebrities in attendance.
Alain Souchon leads an intriguing life away from the limelight. When not on stage or at events, he finds solace at his second home in La Trinité-sur-Mer, Brittany. A place he retreats to around three times a year, Brittany is more than just a holiday spot; it's a sanctuary for the artist.
A Love Affair with Brittany
Born and raised in Paris, Souchon has always had a special connection with Brittany, a region he fell in love with during childhood vacations with his parents. His fondness for the region grew stronger over the years, ultimately leading him to divide his time between Brittany and Paris.
From Loir-et-Cher to Paris and Beyond
Before settling in Paris, Souchon used to live in Loir-et-Cher. His journey from Loir-et-Cher to a residence in Paris, and eventually to Brittany, resembles a trip back in time to the memories of his past.
A Serene Sanctuary in Brittany
With the earnings from his music tours, Souchon purchased his Brittany house two decades ago. Situated just 20 meters from the sea and secluded from the customs path, the place offers tranquility that's hard to match. The house boasts a large fireplace and is an ideal haven for Souchon to unwind and reminisce.
Memories and Friends in Brittany
Souchon's love for Brittany extends beyond its physical appeal. The region evokes fond childhood memories of vacations in Saint-Cast, Quimperlé, Vannes. He describes Brittany as not only physically powerful with its rugged rocks, robust sea, and moors, but also spiritual and fairy-like.
His Brittany home is often graced by his long-time friend, Laurent Voulzy, who lives in Quiberon. Their get-togethers usually turn into holidays, adding warmth and cheer to the serene setting.
Even though Souchon visits Brittany thrice a year, the period from July 15 to August 25 is particularly special to him. It's during this time that he truly disconnects from the world, immersing himself in the peace and charm of his cherished region.
