In the spotlight again, Lio, a prominent singer from the 80s, has been forced to sell her Charente home due to ongoing financial difficulties.
Best known for her pop music contributions in the 80s, Lio candidly discussed her financial struggles on a well-known talk show, “Quotidien,” back in March 2018. She revealed that a lack of songwriting royalties played a part in her financial woes.
Financial Struggles from the Early 2000s
This financial instability is not a recent development for the singer. In fact, her monetary issues can be traced back to the early 2000s. A significant consequence of these troubles was the sale of her house in Vitrac-Saint-Vincent, Charente.
The House Sale
Notable is the fact that Lio's house was purchased at an auction by Atelier studio, of which Lio is a co-manager. The house, initially bought for an approximate 17,400 euros in 1999, was later acquired by the local community in 2000 as part of a settlement for her debts.
Life After France
Following the sale, Lio found herself needing to leave France in search of a more affordable place to live. This led her to move to Portugal, where she sought a simpler life and a cheaper property.
Embracing Portuguese Heritage
In Portugal, Lio has not only found a new home, but she has also reconnected with her Portuguese roots. Currently residing in Lisbon, she is exploring new opportunities, with one such venture being olive oil production. Nevertheless, she remains on a tight budget, demonstrating the still-present need for cost-effective living solutions.
