Delving into the serene atmosphere of the Domaine des Étangs, a captivating member of the Auberge Resorts Collection, promises a unique getaway experience.
Historical and Natural Beauty
Originally built over seven centuries ago by the Knights of Chasteigner de la Roche-Posay, the Domaine des Étangs is an impressive stone castle nestled within 2,500 acres of tranquil nature. The castle and its surrounding environment form a peaceful haven dedicated to art and nature, nestled amongst traditional farms and serene ponds.
Luxurious Accommodation
The establishment comprises six luxurious country houses, or métairies, each named after a constellation. These intimate spaces of luxury offer a unique staying experience, with each room of the castle and the métairies reflecting the theme of celestial bodies. Isabelle Stanislas, the renowned designer, has carefully decorated the interior of the castle, creating an alluring mix of family antiques and carefully selected pieces.
A Showcase of Art
The grandeur of the castle extends to its sprawling 1000-hectare grounds, adorned with modern art pieces. Moreover, the estate hosts an art gallery at the Laiterie, showcasing Garance Primat's private collection. To complement the gallery, two mezzanine spaces provide a rich library of past and future works, those published before and after 1920, respectively.
