Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are going to be very, very busy. It’s the 7th Annual Pasadena ArtWeekend.
1. ArtNight will have a “kinetic evening of mini-modern dance works” by the Pennington Dance Group, the debut of PAGES! that celebrates the art of the book at the Art Center, and creating art through physics in honor of the new Galvin Physics Forest by Kidspace and JPL, among many, many other events. ArtNight is on Friday from 6-10 p.m., all around the city of Pasadena.
2. The Art of Food will have “mouth-watering offerings from the restaurants of South Lake Avenue, prizes, special live cooking demos, a beer and wine garden, showcases from area businesses, and live music performances.” The Art of Food goes from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday along South Lake Avenue.
3. ArtWalk will have a juried art show, free admission at the Pacific Asia Museum and PMCA, hands-on activities like making mosaic art, creating sculpture out of straws, and “Jackson Pollack Inspiration Art” presented by Our Parenting Place and involving what they’re calling “golf ball painting.” Over 45 artists will be represented, Jamila Ford will be performing her eclectic jazz, and the Atrium will host three “Art Chats.” ArtWalk is from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday in the Playhouse District.
4. ArtRhythm centers around drumming traditions from around the world from Japan to Africa. A free salsa lesson will be offered and a concert finale. ArtRhythm goes from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday at Paseo Colorado.
