You can never have too many mariachis, can you?

The Rose Bowl put this to the test on Sunday during the 2013 Gold Cup match between Panama and Mexico when 566 (according to the L.A. Times) or 586 el mariachi (according to ABC13) played during halftime.

Violinists, trumpeters, and other musicians performed “Cielito Lindo” and “El Son de la Negra” while many in the crowd sang along with them. Did anyone see Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard or attendee boxer Oscar de la Hoya working their vocal cords?

By the way, Panama pulled out a 2-1 victory, much to the displeasure of passionate fans of Mexico. Panama will next play Marinica on July 11th. USA takes on Belize on July 9th during this group stage of play (concacaf.com).
