This Saturday, January 13th, is the second Saturday of the month, which means that it’s time for NELA Art Gallery Night on York Boulevard in Highland Park.
Galleries and shops are open late along York from around Avenue 50 to Avenue 54 is filled with pedestrians, patrons, clients, and diners. Sawhorse Shop & Gallery has handmade furniture and interesting collectibles and this weekend will feature artist Jessika Wood, who calls her art “blunt, nasty, colorful, a joke on life, and a comment on me.” They will have music and an open bar from 7-11 p.m.
The Glass Studio has handmade tiles, accessories, and lighting, and owner Cathi Milligan usually blowing glass and creating art right before your eyes. Matters of Space has decor and accessories while Thank You is a graphic novel and comic store.
Vintage Tattoo Art Parlor is run by Baba who is more than happy to show you vintage photographs of past tattoo masters.
Other places to make sure you drop into are Avenue 50 Studio and Art 2102.
