Jacarandas Blooming Again

DSC_0078Have you noticed the second coming of the burst-of-purple-trumpets, sweet smelling jacaranda blooms? It’s so nice to have them back.

Mop heads of purple that line Marengo in South Pas or California near Lake, and dotted here and there on El Molino…carpeting the sidewalk, littering into the street, and polka-dotting parked cars.

During this second blooming, we recognize botanist, horticulturalist, and landscape architect Kate Sessions (1857-1940) who is known as the “Mother of Balboa Park” and is credited for importing and popularizing the jacaranda in Southern California. We thank you with all our heart.
