Are food trucks a great asset to the L.A. culinary scene, or are they unfair competition for bricks-and-mortar restaurants? Is the good they do—feeding thousands with flair, economy and sociability—offset by the issues they cause in terms of trash, zoning and parking?
That will be the topic at Tuesday’s AirTalk forum to be held at KPCC’s new building on Raymond. Larry Mantle will be hosting the live event, which is open to the public on a free, first-come first-seated basis. His guests will include L.A. City Councilman Tom LaBonge, who got in a lot of hot water for speaking out against food trucks. The City Council will soon be addressing the food-truck issue, so LaBonge really does want to hear from people.
But to heck with the controversy: There’s gonna be truck food! Even if you can’t attend the talk, come for the Grilled Cheese Truck, Border Grill Truck, The Place LA, Kabob ‘n Roll and more. While the forum is free, the food is not, so bring a few bucks.
