A few weeks ago, we published a post about the event 30 Pianos, 30 Locations, an interactive art installment initially born by British artist Luke Jerram. This past Thursday at noon, 30 pianists at 30 locations throughout L.A. County and beyond sat down and played Bach’s prelude to the Well-Tempered Clavier.
We stopped by One Colorado to see pianist Mark Robson (by way of the L.A. Chamber Orchestra) play the opening piece, then continue with a variety of tunes for the attendees and passerby. These 30 pianos can be used by the public 24/7 for the next three weeks. Local sites, besides the one mentioned above, are Vroman’s courtyard in the Pasadena Playhouse District and the Pasadena Conservatory of Music. Check the website streetpianos.com to see a complete listing of locations, then go and let your fingers dance.
