CicLAvia Pasadena 2015

May 24, 2015

63449-fullMetro Los Angeles puts its money where the pedals are…Presenting, CicLAvia Pasadena, a 3.5 mile route through the heart of Old Town.

Yoga and music may be found at the Memorial Park Hub at Levitt Pavilion’s bandshell, a mixed media art project hosted by Armory Center for the Arts along with free admission to art exhibits and live music, a free pedi-cab, the Old Pasadena Farmer’s Market, food trucks and a free bike valet.

The Old Pasadena Hub will have food trucks, free bike valet and pedi-cab along with arts and crafts thanks to Side Street Projects and a “wooden wearables” workshop by Gamble House. Day One is hosting activities like building a 3D bike sculpture out of recycled cardboard and tires, creating chalkboard art, partake in the CicLAvia Selfie Photobooth, and take a zumba or yoga class. The Pasadena Department of Transportation will be distributing 300 free bike helmets to adults and children on bicycles.

The other hubs for activities and food are the South Lake Avenue District Hub and Colorado Hub—Muse/Ique will be at Holliston Avenue beginning at 10:30 a.m. Folks may learn dance moves from Muse/Ique’s hip-hop version of “Mambo” from West Side Story and artists Frit and Frat Fuller will perform “impromptu hip-hop and breakdancing performances.” Each hub will have CicLAvia info, merchandise, bike parking and repair, free water, restrooms, and first aid stations.

CicLAvia is not a race and doesn’t even need to be experienced via a bicycle. CicLAvia Pasadena “is the most walkable CicLAvia to date.” One may run, skate, or even scooter. There’s no beginning or end, no this way or that way to experience it. The Gold Line connects to the event route at the Memorial and Del Mar stations.
