It’s springtime with cherry blossoms at Descanso Gardens, celebrating Japanese culture and flowering trees as far as the eye can see.
Sat. & Sun., March 23-24, 11 a.m. & 1 p.m.: a cherry blossom walk and talk tour meets at the Center Circle.
Sat. & Sun., March 23-24, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.: if you’re in the buying mood, flowering cherry trees and rare Japanese roses—grown by Descanso volunteers—will be for sale. They recommend that those of a serious nature arrive early as these plants tend to sell out quickly.
Sat. only, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.: master Yami Yamauchi teaches origami, the art of paper folding in the Japanese Garden.
Both days, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.: bento box lunches, beverages, and specialty cocktails can be purchased and enjoyed on the Main Lawn in this year’s Camellia Lounge.
Both days, 2:30-5 p.m. “Rashōmon” at Under the Oaks Theater. Find details HERE.
All of these activities are free with the cost of admission.
