The Bohos played terrific swing-style jazz (think Stephane Grappelli) at the Saturday event.
I didn’t live in Pasadena back in the glory days of Jiyayr Zorthian’s famed and rather decadent parties/happenings, but I’ve read Larry Wilson’s descriptions. What I saw on Saturday at Altadena Heritage’s tribute to Zorthian and fellow merrymaker Gus Albrecht was a thoroughly civilized affair, with nary a naked nymph in sight. Zorthian might have been disappointed in that, but surely he would have been pleased to see so many smart, interesting Altadenans gathering for a party in a mausoleum, not to mention a mausoleum that was staging a show of his drawings and paintings in its art gallery.
I had to hustle to another event and was sorry I couldn’t stay long. Neither could I attend part 2 of the happening on Sunday. So here are reports from two swell Altadena bloggers:

The show of Zorthian's art and Gus Albrecht's writings at the Mountain View Cemetery's Mausoleum

Altadeners/BoHos behave themselves?? That must be a typo – or, they’ve just become conservatives over the many years.
