We’ve been champions of Arlington Garden since its earliest days—many of the Hometown Pasadena team drive and walk past it almost daily, and our own Sandy Gillis has been a regular volunteer. But even we never imagined how fantabulous the garden would become—and that it would have its own iPhone app! That’s right, you can now download the free Arlington Garden app and use it to get a customized tour of the garden and find out exactly which plant is which.
We’re also happy to spread the word that the city (led by councilman Steve Madison) is helping throw a celebration in honor of the sixth anniversary of this volunteer-built, water-sparing, truly grassroots pocket park, which just gets better and better with each passing season. If you haven’t strolled through in a while, take the time to do so soon, to admire the dwarf citrus orchard, for instance, and the remarkable walls built of broken concrete.
Here’s our official post about the garden, and if you’d like to help support the garden with your time, skills and/or money, call its founders and “Constant Gardeners” Betty and Charles McKenney at 626.441.4478.
