Number 94 is the number to be: Drew Helen Washington is this year’s 94th Rose Bowl queen and will preside over the 123rd Rose Parade and the 98th Rose Bowl game.
Washington was selected out of seven finalists princesses from an initial pool of 1,000 young woman from the Pasadena area.
Drew Helen (yes, she’s a Helen of Pasadena) attends Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy. Her weeks are filled with the Student Ambassador Club, SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), the Multicultural Club and the Latin Club. She’s also a member of Flintridge’s National Honor Society, the California Scholarship Federation and Mu Alpha Theta (the honors math club). AND she’s captain of the varsity volleyball and varsity track and field teams. Her parents are Craig and Lorie Washington.
The queen and her royal court will receive a full wardrobe and styling from Macy’s as well as jewelry, and they will spend the next year appearing at about 150 community events.
They will enjoy all the pomp and circumstance of the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl Game take place in Pasadena on Monday, January 2. Long live the queen!
