They’re classics: The Terminator, The Abyss, and Aliens. They’re documentaries: True Whispers and The Pirate Code. They’re suspenseful, adventurous, and patriotic: Armageddon. They’re silly: Tremors. They’re zombies (always a crowd pleaser): “The Walking Dead.”
They’re sometimes green: The Hulk.
“They” have all been produced by Pasadena local Gale Anne Hurd and this Wednesday, October 3rd, she will be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Director James Cameron and Andrew Lincoln (star of “The Walking Dead”) will be the guest speakers.
To further the celebration of this Hollywood honor (the 2,482nd star to be accorded), Vertical Wine Bistro will be giving away a free glass of prosecco to all who drop by to celebrate. There will also be a drawing to give away “Walking Dead” memorabilia, which shall be autographed by Gale.
Besides her impressive career as a writer and producer of films, documentaries, and TV movies (which have garnered numerous Academy Awards and an Emmy), Hurd is an avid scuba diver and serves on the advisory boards for Heal the Bay, Reef Check, and Artists for Peace and Justice. She’s been honored by Global Green USA with the Entertainment Industry Environmental Leadership Award, and won the Telluride Tech Festival Award of Technology and Crystal Award from Women in Film.
We wonder if she magically has access to a world with 48-hours in a day (and we wonder how can we get invited into that club), but we hope that she finds the time to indulge in some delicious prosecco herself—every night!—during this celebratory week.
