Built around a 1903 cottage, this is one of Pasadena’s more hidden and low-key nurseries, but it deserves to be sought out. Owner Ramon Franco spent 30 years as a landscape contractor before he and his wife, Teresa, bought the place from the Japanese-American family that had owned it for two generations, and he brings all that experience to bear in the service and in the selection of plants and goods for the yard.
Staples: Large, healthy, well-established vines, shrubs and trees at reasonable prices.
Don’t Miss: The wildly colorful pots, the whimsical yard decor, and the drought-tolerant plants (great salvias).
We Like: The wise and helpful Franco family.
