Hot tip: Every Tuesday, when most cultural institutions are closed, the Gamble House throws open its proverbial doors for lunch-time tours.
Whether you work here, live here or are simply visiting, whether you are ladies-who-lunch, co-workers or merely a passer-by, you can add a little culture to your Tuesday lunch break with a visit to the Gamble House.
Could there be a more beautiful spot to lunch than the Gamble House and garden with the San Gabriel Mountains as a backdrop? Bring a bag lunch – or your favorite sandwich from Julienne, Porta Via or the Market on Holly. Street parking is available, and seriously, what a place to relax — away from pressures and commitments while experiencing one of our city’s architectural treasures.
Here’s the scoop:
•Every Tuesday, the Gamble House provides seating on the rear lawn and terrace from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Visitors bring their own lunch.
•Two 20-minute docent-led short tours will be given at 12:15 p.m. and at 12:45 p.m.
•Admission is $5.
•Tickets are sold Tuesday at the Gamble House Bookstore, open at 10 a.m. 626.449.4178. Ticket stubs are also valid for a reduced-cost 1-hour tour at a later date.
•Groups of 10 or more may book Brown-Bag Tours on Tuesdays and other days by calling in advance: 626.793.3334, x16
