Live from Phoenix: Day 1 of Arizona’s immigration law, SB 1070

When Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed SB 1070 in April, the divisive battle over immigration reform was reignited nationwide. The controversial law, which gives local police tough immigration enforcement powers, was set to go into effect today. But now its future is unclear. Portions of it, including some of the most controversial provisions, are now under temporary injunction by a federal judge. Ultimately, the Supreme Court may decide exactly what form—if any—Arizona’s immigration law will take. For now, the Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix remains ground zero in the immigration debate. AirTalk with Larry Mantle will be there talking with Arizona’s leading lawmakers, police officials, activists and protesters about the impact of SB 1070 locally and nationally.
