After 41 hours, 45 minutes, and multiple jellyfish stings, 62-year-old long distance swimmer Diana Nyad’s attempt to swim from Cuba to Florida has come to an end. Nyad faced lightning, wind, hypothermia and other challenges on her fourth attempt to complete the swim in nearly 35 years. She was reluctant to stop her effort to become the first person to become the first person to cross the Florida Straits without a shark cage.
