Rose Bowl Swimmers Rank at Junior Olympics

Kate Herrill

For the first time ever, the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center’s 13 and older group made it to the top roster at a Junior Olympics meet by placing 4th at the Southern California JO tournament, competing against the best teams in California and Nevada. And Mayfield 8th grader Kate Herrill, an Altadena resident, took 1st place in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke. “After the 200 breaststroke, I couldn’t feel my legs,” said Herrill, who now moves on to compete in the breaststroke at the Junior Nationals. (And because Herrill is so talented, she’s also on the Rose Bowl’s Senior Nationals team, despite the fact that she’s still in grade school!)

The ranking Rose Bowl team makes it to the finals scoreboard.
