One way to get children interested in being healthy is to make it fun, then make it even more fun. With that goal in mind, The Junior League of Pasadena is hosting its 4th annual Kids in the Kitchen event this Saturday, April 14th.
At Madison Elementary School, children of all ages are welcome to hop, skip or jump in the “Health Parade.” But this is not your ordinary parade; there will be activity stops along the way.
Children can learn a simple yoga pose like the Happy Baby, Cow Face, or Half Lord of the Fishes (they may need to work on keeping a straight face at this stop). They can refresh themselves with smoothies, try “produce-infused” water, and sample tofu tacos. Additionally, there will be games, music, raffle prizes and give-a-ways.
Kids in the Kitchen is a part of The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc.’s program to address and curb America’s growing childhood obesity epidemic.
Having your child learn about nutrition by way of their tummies (filling them with yummy treats), and encouraging participation in daily exercise by learning silly yoga poses and playing games, is one way to develop good, healthy habits—without them even realizing it.
