For comic book lovers, this Saturday, May 5th, the Pasadena Central Library is the place to be.
Every year on the first Saturday in May, libraries and comic book stores across the nation give away free comic books.
Why? Because this weekend almost always sees the movie industry release a film based on comic book characters.
This weekend it will be The Avengers, which is based on the Marvel comic book featuring Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and the Incredible Hulk.
At the Pasadena Central Library, comic book writers and artists will talk about their work and sign autographs from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
This will include: Garbriel Hardman, current artist of Hawkeye and Black Widow of Secret Avengers; Corinna Bechko, author of Heathentown; Shane Houghton, writer and co-creator of Reed Gunther and writer for Casper’s Scare School; Chris Houghton, artist and co-creator of Reed Gunther; and Kassandra Heller, animator for Disney’s Club Penguins, Mad TV, and Adventure Time Comics.
Autographed copies of books will be available for sale, completed artwork will be available for viewing, and artists will be actively sketching characters.
Kids and teens can get a free comic book—while supplies last—at any of the Pasadena Public Library locations.
So, comic book lovers unite! Head out early to the nearest public library this Saturday and revel in the world of comics—a world which is your heart’s delight (comic aficionados know what we mean).
