A Predictable Plot That Never Gets Old

Dec 19, 2010

The plotline is predictable: Clara enjoys the Christmas party, the Nutrcracker comes to life, a battle ensues, and the Sugar Plum Fairy leads the waltz—but that Mouse King and his army will always give me the creeps. So we still attend annually, a spectator for Uncle Drosselmeyer’s puppet show, Tchaikovsky’s classic—the Grand Pas de Deux, and of course, the defeat of the mice army.  This year in Pasadena, David Wilcox’s renowned production of The Nutcracker performed by the Long Beach Ballet will light up the stage at The Pasadena Civic on December 22 and 23 and will feature Melissa Sandvig from So You Think You Can Dance.  After Robin Hood, we never thought men in tights could look so heroic.
