Altadena: Home Is Where the Heart Is

The season of home tours marches on. This Sunday, the Altadena Guild hosts the “The Heart of the Midlothian,” a tour of four homes, old and new.

The architectural past is represented by a 1930 Monterey Spanish Revival designed by Wallace Neff and a 1930 traditional Monterey Colonial with a nautically-themed library and a vintage Magic Chef stove.

Present day is represented by a house (just finished) described as “modern Asian” in style. It is said to have an open floor plan, which is perfect for the canvases created by the homeowner, and the property has “unique sculptural features.” The Altadena Guild website even says that the laundry room in this residence will “enthrall” attendees.

The other recently-built home is a 6,000 square foot Georgian Colonial, which sits amidst a park-like lawn with grand California oaks.

The Altadena Guild “was founded in 1951 in order to extend and enlarge the work of the Women’s Auxiliary of Huntington Hospital in Pasadena,” hosting events which benefit the Huntington Medical Research Institutes.

A complimentary dessert and refreshments will be available at the Tea Garden, along with live music. Food can also be purchased at the Altadini Bar and the Bakery, and local artists will be displaying and selling their goods.

    Hi Kat,
Thanks, the date is now correct (the 6th), but now the day is wrong. It is Sunday, not Saturday. Thanks for being on top of this!

Oh my gosh! Apologies (can you see there’s too much on the plate this week?). Okay. It should be correct now. Thanks for the catch (again), Kim! I hope you have a wonderful show/tour.
