Sprucing Up the Arroyo

Oct 22, 2010

Joni Mitchell was right, they paved paradise and put up a parking lot. Fortunately, the vast parking lots abutting the Arroyo Seco near the Rose Bowl have been mitigated by the restoration of much of the Arroyo Watershed, and for that we are grateful to many, especially the Arroyo Seco Foundation. If you ever use the Arroyo—and thousands of us do, to walk, birdwatch, paint, cycle, swim, even shoot arrows‚ please consider joining the Arroyo Seco Stream Team for a cleanup on Sunday. Volunteers will gather at the parking lot by the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center and the nearby stream zone. They welcome any and all willing to help—gloves and trash bags will be provided, but feel free to bring a snack, as the meeting spot is at the picnic tables by Lot 1 (south of Brookside Park). Grab your reusable water bottle and help take those trees out of the tree museum.
