Three cheers for Victoria Williams and Nicole Sandoz, members of the Junior League of Pasadena‘s Done in a Day Committee, who took the lead in a drive to collect barely used gowns for girls who dream of attending their senior prom but can’t afford the hundreds of dollars to outfit themselves. The two Junior Leaguers established a partnership with L.A.’s Prom Closet and hosted a Pasadena Prom Dress Drive beginning in February.
With the help of their fellow Junior League members, the two women collected 55 dresses from members, Pasadena residents and friends for distribution to L.A.’s Prom Closet. Two weeks ago, some 200 high school girls attended the Dress to Remember event and got to choose a gown (and accessories) from racks of dresses bursting with colors from the rainbow and shimmering with beads and sequins.
And while we’re at it, snaps also go to the young women at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, who also recently ran a successful gown drive for local girls needing prom and formal dresses.
