The American Cancer Society is working towards a world with more birthdays. More birthdays for women who are fighting breast cancer.

This is exemplified by their Making Strides event, a 5-mile walk this Sunday, May 6th at Lacy Park.

“The Making Strides event is not a race; it is a celebration of survivorship, an occasion to express hope, and a shared goal to end a disease that threatens the lives of so many people we love.”

No registration fee or minimum fundraising amount is required. Many opportunities are available for participation: become a team leader and organize your own walking team as individuals or within your company (like Wells Fargo); find an existing team to join; make a donation to a particular team or an individual walker; or sign up to volunteer.

Since 1993, almost 8 million walkers have raised over $450 million to help fight breast cancer.

Here’s to a lot more birthdays.
