Clients may pick up a grocery cart full of food, sized for each family. Food is distributed six times a week. Homebound seniors and disabled clients receive food packages in eleven different cities. One hundred-fifty to 180 bag lunches that are substantial enough to last two days are distributed to the homeless or people who have no place to store or cook food.
This is FoothillUnityCenter “fighting hunger 52 weeks a year.”
The Center is looking for volunteers to help unload mail trucks full of donated food, then sort it quickly, load it onto Foothill Unity Center trucks, and finally unload it at the Monrovia warehouse. It sounds phenomenally exhausting, but they have set up 2-3 hour shifts at the post office or the warehouse. Volunteers must wear, per post office rules, closed-toe shoes (no sandals or flip flops).
It’s a lot of work and many hands are needed!
