The deadline: this Thursday, November 11th.
Foothill Family Services is once again offering its Adopt-a-Family program to bring relief, smiles, and a large dose of holiday cheer to families who only see the upcoming holidays as a daunting mountain of impossibilities.
FFS was founded more than 85 years ago and has programs that include mental health, school-based counseling for children, child-abuse and domestic-violence prevention and treatment, early child development, support for teen parents, and family counseling.
During 2010-2011, FFS provided aid to more than 23,000 people. Last year, 324 families were “adopted.” FFS is hoping to break their record this year, especially in light of the current economic instability.
The Adopt-a-Family Program gives toys, clothes, and basic necessities to local families so children may experience some joy during the holiday season.
Friends of FFS’s Adopt-a-Family chair Tracy Grohs says, “The holidays are a time to wrap your arms around our community and give to those who need it most. A simple act of sending a few gifts can lift a family’s spirit and create hope for the future.”
