Villa Esperanza goes “glamping” for its fundraiser this year, Saturday, June 1st. “Camp Blue & White” will be in the backyard of a residence in La Cañada Flintridge with Mistress of Ceremonies Colleen Williams and Fritz Coleman as the evening’s auctioneer. Join Villa in the great outdoors for a stylish camping experience. For more info, visit

Over several months and through grants, donations, and fundraising events, four young women students at Westridge School have raised $10,000 to fund a meal packaging event that will benefit Stop Hunger Now, an organization that “sends meals to partner institutions around the world in order to address hunger in an immediate and tangible way.” This Sunday, June 2nd, they need help packaging—wait for it—10,000 meals. Event location: Westridge School, Braun building, 324 Madeline Drive, Pasadena 91105. Parking is available in the lot on the corner of State Street and Orange Grove or on the street on State.

Yarn Bombing Los Angeles is a group of guerrilla knitters and crocheters who have been collaborating since 2010 to stage public installations and performances to help expand the definition of public art to include self-initiated and temporal urban interventions such as yarn bombing.

How about that as a mission statement? YBLA will be at One Colorado on Sunday, June 9th, hosting a “Stitch-In” party. Everyone is welcome to drop by between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to help stitch together handmade granny squares into blankets that will be distributed to the Downtown Women’s Center in the fall of this year. Event address: 24 Smith Alley, Pasadena 91103 (between IlFornaio’s bakery and Patagonia).
