It’s Levitt time: six weeks of free concerts, Wednesday through Sunday, in good old Memorial Park. As we do every year, we’ll be spotlighting one show a week for the duration. Because, you know, we’re curators. Our pick this week is the Ernie Watts Quartet, a jazz outfit led by the eponymous two-time Grammy winner. There’s been a lot of good jazz at the Levitt this summer, and we haven’t spotlighted any of it. Why? We don’t know why. It’s not because we hate America. We love America. And we love jazz. So go see Ernie Watts this Sunday! He’s played sax for everyone from Cannonball Adderley to Frank Zappa, which is an impressive distance. Give him a listen here.
