Banff is one of those words that looks like it should be constantly accompanied by an exclamation point: Banff! If it referred to a loud, lisping thud and not a city in Alberta, it could be onomatopoetic. Instead, it will have to settle for being one of Canada’s most popular tourist destinations and the home of the Banff Mountain Film Festival, a yearly international competition and presentation of shorts and docs about mountains and the people who love them. The best of those films go on tour to 305 cities in 20 countries (people love mountains), including our very own Hometown Pasadena. Caltech is hosting the 2010 festival films next Tuesday, the 29th. We hear they’re all about yodeling.
