The merry band of funky do-gooders known as the Light Bringer Project put on all manner of arts events throughout the year, but none—with the possible exception of the Doo Dah Parade—are as big and wonderful as the Pasadena Chalk Festival, which every year brings six hundred (600!) artists to the Paseo Colorado to cover it, for one powdery Father’s Day weekend, with chalk. It’s a sight to see. In addition to displaying hundreds of pieces of art, Festival programming includes face painting and Father’s Day card making for kids and live music throughout the day—because, oh yeah, it’s also Make Music Pasadena. What a weekend.
