Play that funky music, young people.

Every year or so, the Shumei Arts Council puts on the Clyde Montgomery Concert, featuring the rising stars of Los Angeles classical music, in this case the cream of the chamber music crop from the Colburn School and USC’s Thornton School of Music. The program of Shostakovich, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Donizetti, and Paladilhe will also include the world premiere of a solo piano piece entitled “Seven Dances,” by Emmy Award-winning composer Stephen Cohn. Tough company for a debut.
