We’ve got two hot tips for you shoppers for Friday, December 11:
1. Not many people know that Tommy Bahama‘s womenswear design operation is headquartered right here in Pasadena, in the Raymond Avenue center that also houses Jones Coffee. And even fewer know that they’re having a sample sale on Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you’re a Tommy fan, you know it’s not cheap, but this stuff is a steal: tanks for $5, dresses for $25, swimsuits for $15, wallets for $10, cashmere sweaters for $40, towels for $5… you might be able to get much of your holiday shopping in one fell swoop. Two catches: It’s cash only, and as anyone who frequents Jones knows, parking is impossible, so you might have to hoof it a block or two. 519 S. Raymond Ave., Pasadena.
2. Old Town’s most beautiful new store, Maude Woods, is having an open house on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.. Owner Carrie Davich will be pouring champagne, serving hors d’oeuvres and giving a 10% discount on everything in the store. Besides her larger furnishings, she’s got elegant holiday decorations, hostess gifts (tableware and serving pieces) that you won’t find anywhere else, and even pet gifts (hemp dog beds). 55 E. Holly St., Old Pasadena, 626.577.3400, maudewoods.com.
