Poncho Sanchez and Incendio at the Levitt

Poncho Sanchez

Every week, there are several musical acts playing at the Levitt that are worthy of a recommendation. This week we’re highlighting two: Poncho Sanchez on Thursay, and Incendio on Saturday.

Poncho, a percussionist, is a pretty big name in the Latin Jazz world and beyond; like many of today’s top tier performers, he and his band are fluent in multiple styles, from bebop to soul to salsa. His Grammy, though, is for Best Latin Jazz Album.

Incendio, a five-member “Latin guitar world fusion group,” just sounds cool, as per here . They’ve done seven CDs in twelve years and, like most professional bands these days without major label support, have toured relentlessly: 170 dates a year. If you’re curious, they talk about themselves—at great length—here. If you’re really curious, though, you’d let their music do the talking and go see them at the Levitt.
