Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra Plays Bach

Jan 10, 2011

His songs and organ works, to be precise. But not all of them. To be even more precise, Musica Angelica, one of So Cal’s premier Baroque ensembles, will perform 1) the Schemelli songs and arias, 2) the Toccata and Fugue in d minor, 3) the Passacaglia in c minor for Organ, BMV582, and 4), Prelude and Fugue in e minor, “The Wedge,” BWV548—a nice assortment of work from the man Beethoven called “the immortal god of harmony.” The young soloists are mezzo-soprano Ida Aldrian and organist Dmitry Bondarenko, who have been lighting up the Continental music scene. And the venue, the Pasadena Neighborhood Church, has a hell of an organ.
