Join The Armory Center for the Arts and Old Town hotspot One Colorado for a celebration of local artist Meriel Stern and her new position as artist-in-residence at the Artist Studio at One Colorado. From June 28th through September 25th, the studio will display Stern’s work, entitled Shelf Life, which focuses primarily on stages of growth and change, employing mediums like wire and string to highlight the monotony and repetitiveness of various facets of life. Visitors are encouraged to converse with the artist while participating in her live art piece, which comprises a “storefront” and its “wares” that are meant to be molded by onlookers and added to the “inventory.” In exchange for support and assistance, visitors will be rewarded with items that the artist prepared comparable in value to the time Stern spent creating the object. A reception commemorating Stern and her work will take place on Sunday, September 11th 2011 from 2 to 6 p.m.
