Thanksgiving weekend is anon, which in retail land really means it’s Christmas season. So, not surprisingly, Old Pasadena is pulling out all the Christmas stops before you even have a chance to make morning-after turkey hash.
The stores, of course, wlll be in full swing Friday morning, but Friday evening is when the formal fun kicks off with the arrival of Santa (with lap time and photo ops for kids), the lighting of the suitably impressive tree, an appearance by the Rose Queen herself, and the launch of the Charles Cherniss toy drive. This happens Friday night from 6 to 9 p.m.
Saturday is more devoted to moving goods — all the One Colorado shops, and many more Old Town merchants, will be having sales, coupons, open houses and giveaways. Check out the local Idol talent contest at Old Town Music, the book signing at Beyond the Olive, the 20%-off-everything sale at Distant Lands and an appearance by the Grinch at Three Dog Bakery.
On Sunday the focus turns to performances, including plenty of caroling and sing-a-longs. From noon to 6 various performers and groups will take the stage, including Pasadena’s Theatre 360, the Crescenta Valley High School Choir, the California College of Music and the Basement Dance Center.
