Country Joe, sans Fish, at Caltech

Country Joe.

Attention old hippies of Pasadena: Country Joe—yes, that Country Joe—is playing Caltech this Saturday. Although known mostly for the “I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-To-Die Rag,” Joe McDonald, who turns 70 next year, has made more than 30 records, including a Woody Guthrie album way back in 1969—you know, before it was cool to like Woody. Evidently he’s become quite the Woody scholar; one of the four (four!) albums he released in 2007 is called Tribute to Woody Guthrie. So, probably fair to say there’ll be a lot of Guthrie in between the Fish Cheers. Bravo to the Caltech Folk Music Society for getting Joe down here.
