The world over, chamber music singers and chamber music ensembles continue to be segregated on a regular basis. It’s a terrible situation. But the good fight continues to be fought: Caltech, a brave institution if there ever was one, is putting on a joint concert of its Chamber Singers and its Chamber Ensembles. Scientists, the jerks, are often good at things other than science, so expect the caliber of play to be fairly high. On the agenda are the Madrigals of Josquin, Di Lasso, Weelkes, Morley, and Bennett, as well as some Scottish Songs, Beethoven’s Op. 108, Glinka’s Trio Pathétique, Brahms’ Op. 91, and vocal quartets by Hayden, Schubert, and Brahms. A rich musical offering.
