Once upon a time, as a college student, I put together a walking tour for a New York guidebook that covered many of the city’s famous deaths. It is in a similar spirit, I’ll venture, that the odd gentlemen of Esotouric have put together a bus tour of some of the San Gabriel Valley’s more grisly history: Phil Spector’s castle, the bar where James Ellroy’s murdered mother had her last drink, and other morbid delights. And no crime bus tour of the SGV would be complete without … dumplings (from one of the Valley’s “best Chinese restaurants,” the identity of which is not specified). If you are a vegetarian with an appetite for carnage, the tour guides request that you alert them in advance of your dietary situation.
