Not everyone gets to have their profession follow their name, set off by that cool comma, and have it both look and sound good. Julia Morgan, Architect is such a person (Sam Spade, Private Eye is another, and he’s not even real). Julia Morgan, Architect was California’s first licensed woman architect. She built Hearst Castle and 700 other places, including Pasadena’s old YWCA building, in 1921. Pasadena Heritage has put together quite a little program to celebrate her, and to draw attention to the state of the YWCA building, which is on PH’s “Most Endangered” list. If local architectural history and preservation is your thing, this is probably a good event for you.
