Some of the best, darkest writers in our neck of the woods are gathering at Vroman’s on Friday to celebrate the best in noir fiction, L.A. (and O.C.) style. Following on the tremendous success of Los Angeles Noir, the 2007 book edited by bestselling mystery writer (and Glendale resident) Denise Hamilton, Akashic Books is back with Los Angeles Noir 2, again edited by Hamilton. While the first book was all original fiction, the new one mixes classics from such masters as Raymond Chandler and James M. Cain with pieces by such newer talents as Naomi Hirahara (an Altadenan) and Jervey Tervalon (a Pasadenan) — both of whom will be in attendance at the reading and signing. Joining in the shadowy fun are three writers from the also-new Orange County Noir: Dick Lochte, Dan Duling and editor Gary Phillips.
