If you didn’t know that May was Historic Preservation Month, you have one last chance to celebrate, by joining Pasadena Heritage on Sunday in honoring the midcentury modern homes of Ain, Johnson and Day. First attend a lecture and book signing by Professor Anthony Denzer of the University of Wyoming, author of Gregory Ain: The Modern House as Social Commentary; this will be held in Caltech’s new Cahill Center building. Then complete the day with a tour of three historic Park Planned Homes in Altadena. This is a rare opportunity to explore one of the first planned communities in the country, and to look inside a few brilliantly renovated examples of these modest, clean-lined 1940s houses for the everyman.
