This weekend brings to an end the Pasadena Pops summertime series at Descanso Gardens, and they’re going out with a smart bang. The theme is Genius Loves Company; to quote from the web site: “Geniuses have always been drawn to other geniuses. Brubeck loves Bach, Copland loved Lincoln, Lincoln loved Verdi, Bernstein loved Voltaire and Rossini and Tchaikovsky loved Mozart.” So on the great lawn at Descanso you’ll hear Maestra Rachael Worby lead the orchestra in Take Five by Brubeck, Candide–Overture by Bernstein, and Aida by Voltaire, among other works of genius.
