Celebrate the summer heat by spending some time with the King of Pop—soda pop, that is. Galco’s Soda Pop Stop is hosting its first Summer Soda Tasting, showcasing old and new favorites and a few surprise flavors. The event, hosted by Galco’s owner John Nese, will feature countless soda samples, live music, a silent auction and an appearance by retro humorist Charles Phoenix. Phoenix will be mixing up “poptails,” kid-friendly cocktails made with soda. The event benefits the Friends of the Southwest Museum Coalition, which is working to preserve L.A.’s’ first museum. Soda selections will include varieties from Hanks, Fentimans, Bundaberg, Waialua Soda Works and Red Ribbon. Proceeds from all store sales at the event will be donated to the Friends of the Southwest Museum.
