Robin’s Wood-Fire BBQ

Feb 12, 2010

Blues on the stereo, wood smoke in the air, ribs on the table . . . this is living. Barbecue zealots (and they are many) argue ceaselessly on web sites like Chowhound.com about which places are best in Southern California; Robin’s usually rates highly, and it deserves to. The meats are smoked over mesquite and hickory, and they’re appropriately tender and soaked with flavor. A swell kids’ menu (kids eat free on Wednesday night!), good sides (blueberry cornbread, pecan cole slaw. baked beans), fun retro sodas and beer (Pabst Blue Ribbon on tap!), a kitschy Americana décor and friendly waiters make the wait for a table seem well worth it. Sunday night is all-you-can-eat-night.

395 N. Rosemead Blvd., East Pasadena, 626.351.8885, robinsbbq.com, American/Barbeque. L & D Tues.-Sun. Full bar. AE, MC, V. $$-$$$
